Reaction to Sozin's Comet Spoilers
Hey, I know some of you wanted to be kept unspoiled so I'm going to put my reaction behind a cut. Do not click unless you TRULY TRULY TRULY want to know what happens and the implied ending. Okay?

First off...

AANG DOESN'T KILL OZAI???

Oh hay little airbender pacifist! I understand that you're a little monk and all, but FUCK JUST KILL THE DUDE. What did you not register from Roku's speech about NOT KILLING SOZIN so that's why the war happened! So, WHY WOULD YOU NOT KILL OZAI? He's evil. Beyond evil! He has NO REDEEMING QUALITY TO HIM! What's his punishment going to be? He has to work at Iroh's tea shop for eternity??! (though that would be quite the fate...) Even so, I wouldn't want to see Ozai rotting in prison. I WANT THE BITCH DEAD. I don't care how good looking he is, or how he could turn from being bad ass to all happy flowers sprout of my ass like Aang....HE'S BETTER OFF DEAD FOR HIS OWN GOOD.

Secondly...

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE AVATAR STATE?

What happened to sacrifice for the greater good, what happened to letting go, what happened...fuck it never mind. Apparently I was reading the show wrong when it was made painfully obvious that Aang can't get things right when he's around Katara and just ends up screwing over the world. Also, I love Aang but I wish he died if Ozai didn't. Wouldn't that be the GREETEST IRONY EVER? No? Okay.

Thirdly,

MAIKO. WHY? WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE MAIKO?
THERE IS TOO MUCH HATRED I POSSESS TO EVEN BEGIN TO SAY ABOUT THIS GAWDAMN SHIP AND HOW GAWDAMN UNDEVELOPED IT IS. HONESTY? HONESTLY???????? I HAVE NEVER understood WHY Bryke LOVEESSSSSSS this ship (and Mai for that matter) so much and WHY they fucking didn't give it the attention it deserved. Instead they developed it in a comic book (which was hella lame) and they introduced her character in the WORST WAY IMAGINABLE. OH MY GAWD. I...there are no real words to describe how much hatred I have for this ship and why it was allowed to stay. Oh my gawd. WHY WHY WHY?

Fourthly,

WHY DOES NO ONE DIE?

Although this hasn't been CONFIRM/FUCKING CONFIRMED yet it seems pretty damn obvious that NO BODY DIES. Not even Azula. AND WHERE IS URSA? WHY DOESN'T URSA COME BACK? There's no FUCKING MENTION OF URSA. I understand the spoilers were just the bare minimum and that the book itself is pretty straightforward for CHILDRENS ONLY...STILL. WHERE IS SHE?


OVERALL ASSESSMENT?

THIS ENDING IS LAME.

I know. Everyone says that Nick is the one ruining the show and everything, but...Mike and Bryan don't even seem to care. It seems to me, if they actually CARED about Maiko, they should have given it more attention and done it better. BUT THEY DIDN'T. IT'S SO HALF-ASSED AND PIG DISGUSTING I CAN'T EVEN HANDLE IT.

Maiko makes me want to barf all over. ZUKO DOES NOT DESERVE THAT.

One of the things that bugs me the most, is that it's almost like a safe way they took to get the ending. There's no risks, there's no...nothing. I mean, even if I was and still am all GUNG HO about canon!Zutara, I always knew Kataang had the one up over it because of the INCREDIBLY LONG DRAGGED OUT romance...but as for Maiko? I never saw it as a threat because of how RIDICULOUS it was and IS.

IDK, this may make me sound like a shitty fan (or it may be just me speaking rashly) but I don't know how much I want to see the ending now. I mean I still do but, I feel as if this has ruined it for me. Then again if this *does* happen, it's saved me from the sadness I'd get when my predictions fell through =\.

Yeah, I'm really glad I read the spoilers because honestly, I'd rather just have the bad news now instead of later. Then I don't get my hopes up and I have a little time to adjust to the idea of disgusting!canon.

I'll still watch the ending, but I'm really glad I didn't buy any of the dvds. And at least the wait will be easier to deal with now that I'm not as excited. :/

I frankly am...very disappointed. I mean I always expected that Zutara probably wouldn't happen mostly because of how different it would be. Who would have thought M Night's magnificent twist would be that Ozai doesn't die?

I don't really care if I sound like a butthurt Zutarian right now (because I am COMPLETELY and there is NO denying or going around it) but I just don't think the ending should've ended the way it did.

This Kataanger guy on the IMDB forum said that in the Q+A they never meant to make Zutara even plausible. But hell if they think they've gotten rid of us...they are gravely mistaken :)

Also, ia with the Disney sentiment. Let's teach the kids that PEOPLE DO ACTUALLY DIE OKAY.

What a tweest! Spoiler: The tweest will be that Zutara was canon all along.

And that's the first time I've heard about the Q+A thing. WHY? Why do they have to say that? RAAAAGE. They already (apparently) have proven that it's not canon. Do they *really* have to be all like, OH HAY WE WERE JUST FUCKING WITH YOU THE WHOLE TIME. D8< Fucking cocksuckers. I seriously respect them less and less as every day goes by.

And WTF DOES THAT EVEN MEAN "not plausible?!" So they weren't even going to have them be friends? That's some bullshit for sure. They were obviously going to be friends because Zuko was going to join the gaang all along. Therefore freinds = interaction = potential. SUCK IT, BRYKE.

I admit, I am butthurt as well. My ship preference does play a part in it, but I honestly, HONESTLY do believe that it would have been BETTER WRITING to have Zutara be canon. Or at least, they need to seriously revamp Kataang and Maiko to not fail so much. HORRIBLE WRITING.

IDK, call me WAYYYY beyond hopeful but I am rooting for an ending where Zuko and Katara are VISIBLY attracted to each other but end up going their separate ways...then come the three movies that are supposedly based on them (which are original) they end up together! HOLY SHIT WHAT A TWIST!! M. NIGHT YOU FUCKING ZUTARA LOVING SLUT!

Maiko was B.S. to begin with and proves Bryke fails and probably wanted something to make people believe that Kataang would happen FO SHO. Zuko suddenly falling in love with Mai in the comic smells of something fierce. I am totes butthurt because of Zutara not happening but more butthurt at the epic fail that is Ozai not dying, Ursa not showing up, Maiko saying canon and the lack of carnage I am reading. WAY TO GO BRYKE.

Word. I am stupidly hoping that we will get some Zutara interaction still. I mean, Southern Raiders should be FULL of stuff. And we know they fight off against Azula together, which I have wanted FOREVER. So at least there's that.

Oh man, if they ended up visibly liking each other, and STILL ended up with other people. I think I would be almost happy with that. I am a big fan of tragic romance. Then we could have happyending!fanon, and still have tragicsecretadulteryromance!canon. OM NOM NOM. Truthfully, I think I will be able to find a way to see the zutara goodness in almost any ending. I know our fanon will continue to be kickass. I AM STILL PISSED, but my rage can be calmed with delicious fic and art.

I think the most back story that they got was a couple of flashbacks that were centered on the relationship between Zuko and his MOM.

It's like Bryke decided to toss in the thing with Mai halfway through a seasons because, "lol, kids can't understand the complexities of adult relationships, and they won't get that these two should have interacted more".

I for one think Zuko deserves better than some crappy secondary character.

Seriously, my 14 year old brother is about to be a father. Do they really think a 9 year old isn't going to go, "but... where the hell did she come from"? Kids these days know about sex and such much earlier than they did in the past.

I don't like Mai at all. She's like Sasuke to me. There was nothing about her that made me go, "well that chick is awesome". Her character... just... didn't do it for me.

And it REALLY bugs me that the times that Zuko and Mai were together, they were either sucking face or fighting.

Exactly! As sad as it is, kids are not that innocent anymore. And they will know that if there is no back story to a pairing, they are going to question it. Heck, I did the same thing with Bulma/Vegeta when I was no older than 11! However, their getting together was more plausible.

Because only sucking face and fighting is a real good way to build up a relationship.

Everything about it is just so messed up, and too sugary, even for a kids show. They can kill off JET but not Ozai?! WTF???

I don't even mind the Kataang so much (cause I actually do like Aang), but it's just... HE'S 12! He hasn't hit puberty! It's weird and awkward! And she's like a full head taller than him!

And I don't understand the Maiko. Not because I am a Zutarian and a Zukka, but because... she's lame.
